Today (in my timezone anyway) is the 20th Anniversary of The Transformers
. A cartoon series that’s iconic for my generation, I have a shirt with the Decepticons logo on it, and everytime without fail I’ll always get someone coming up and asking me where I got it from. If you were a kid growing up in the 80′s you knew about The Transformers.
Last Sunday, I decided to make a trip down to, basically, the only Dungeons and Dragons club that I know of in Perth. THOHAH is a RPG club, and play RPGs, and I have to admit it was damn fun. I’ve always wanted to give D&D a go, but I could never find experienced players. Well after a little bit of research (which to be honest I really should have done sooner) I located them.
I sent off a quick e-mail to one of the DMs asking if it was alright if I came down to watch, and before I knew it I was rolling up a character. My first ability roll gave me an 18 (highest score you can get), unfortunately the rest of my rolls, ending up being below 9 (very bad results), and after about 5 more tries, I got some stats to play with.
It took me awhile to get a character going, but the other players were patient while I got it sorted and we were underway. To be perfectly honest, but roleplaying ability just sucked, now I mean really bad, but trying to act or think like a dwarven fighter in front of a bunch of strangers is an odd thing to do.
Anyway, long story short I’ll be heading down there a few more times and see if my roleplaying ability gets any better, if anyone hasn’t tried it I recommend it, it’s better than time spent watching TV.
